Exemplary cooperation from IUE and PwC to support education
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Business cooperated with PwC, one of the world's leading auditing and consultancy firms, in order to improve students' internship opportunities and allow them to take courses from international names. The agreement made with PwC firm will provide priority internship and job opportunities to the students of IUE Accounting and Auditing Program. In addition, some courses in the curriculum will be taught by senior executives working in the company's offices abroad. IUE, which has carried out many scientific studies in the field of accounting and auditing, will realize joint projects with PwC officials.
The cooperation protocol, which offers students the opportunity to meet the business world before they graduate, is signed by IUE Rector Prof. Murat Aşkar and PwC Company Partner Mehmet Karakurt. IUE Vice Rectors Prof. Levent Eren and Prof. Çiğdem Kentmen Çin, Prof. Burcu Güneri Çangarlı, Dean of IUE Faculty of Business, and academics attended the ceremony held at IUE Board of Trustees Hall.
OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STUDENTS
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Aşkar pointed out that they have signed a very important cooperation, and he said, “This collaboration is very valuable for our students to have the opportunity to put the academic knowledge they have acquired in our university into practice and to develop themselves by meeting with names with industry experience. We believe that our students should integrate into business life and experience sectors and fields that are suitable for them, without waiting for a diploma. For this, we pave the way for them and offer them opportunities. Collaboration with PwC, which has proven itself in the industry, is one of the best examples of this. In the upcoming period, we will continue to improve the opportunities we provide to our students by cooperating with both foreign and domestic companies.”
A UNIVERSITY WE FOLLOW CLOSELY
PwC Company Partner Mehmet Karakurt, who emphasized that they have carried out many collaborations with Izmir University of Economics so far, said, “Izmir University of Economics is a university that develops itself rapidly, that we attach great importance to and follow closely. We recruited many young people who graduated from the University in our company. We have Izmir University of Economics graduates who work not only in Izmir but also in our Ankara and Istanbul offices. We are very satisfied with all of them. I have been to university before and attended many lectures. With the protocol signed, we have put our long-standing relationship in a certain frame. The coming together of the two institutions will prepare the ground for the realization of many joint works.”
OUR FACULTY IS ALWAYS AHEAD
Dean Prof. Çangarlı said, “Our teaching staff within our faculty consists of well-known names who have industry experience and have good command of their areas of expertise. Our students benefit from all the advantages of this. Even during the pandemic period, we brought together the leading names of the sector with our students thanks to the technological infrastructure of the University. We are not just limited to academic education; we take steps that open the horizons of our youth and enable them to create a milieu. As an indispensable result of this understanding, we find collaborations very important. The partnership with PwC will make us stronger and put our students one step ahead.”
